Your soul is not your true identity. It's kind of like a clearing house. It gets information from your body which says, "Feed me." Your spirit man says, "No, we are fasting." Your mind says, "What do I do?". So your emotions say, "Gee, I'm so hungry. Can't you feed me this time ... can't we just pass the fasting this one time?" Your will says, "Yeah, let's do that." Your spirit man just lost the battle and you go and eat.
You may laugh at this little scenario, but you know that this happens for real. There's nothing wrong with eating, but the timing here is important.
This is a way that we are able to observe the difference between the soul and the spirit man of us.
