We need to change our thinking patterns to what God would say about a certain situation. "Hey, God, what do You think about this situation?" Then you have to be receptive to Him.
We have to listen closely because He isn't going to yell in our ear ... He speaks in a still small voice when He talks to us in our subconscious. He will talk to our soulish realm in our mind through our spirit.
We'll be involved in a situation and suddenly we'll have this "unction", this urge, from inside. "You need to go this way." "You need to do this, not that." This is the Holy Spirit trying to get us to go the way He wants us to go that will bless us and make us free of a particular situation. When we aren't obedient to His voice, or because of just not hearing Him, we'll not be blessed or be freed.
Say this when you wake up in the morning: "This is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. I'm going to worship You, Father. I'm going to praise You in the morning, I'm going to praise You in the noon time, I'm going to praise You in the evening. As long as I have breath, I'm going to praise You, Lord."
