How and what do we have to do to become more intimate with Jesus? To be more like Him? It's more than just speaking His Word ... you can speak the Word of God and not be intimate with Him.
The devil will speak the Word of God to you and he definitely is not intimate with Jesus. He's using the Word and perverting it like he did with Jesus when He had come back off of forty days of fasting ... he did it in the Beginning with Eve. The devil confronted Jesus and used the Word which he had perverted.
Luke 9:61,62 AMP ... Another also said, "I will follow You, Lord, become Your disciple, and side with Your party; but let me first say goodbye to those at my home." Jesus said to him, "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back [to the things behind] is fit for the Kingdom of God."
Several guys came to Jesus and told Him that they would follow Him ... but first they would have to do something else. If we are going to become like Jesus, we need to be aware of verse 62 ... "Whoever looks back to the things behind is not fit for the Kingdom."
I asked God about this, "What all does this encompass?" His answer was, "Everything in the past ...they are history."
We keep bringing them back when we keep saying: "I want to live in history. I want to live in the good old experience ... the 'good old days' I had back then."
God is saying to us ... "What is past is past. You cannot and should not try and resurrect the past for the present day circumstances."
