I told God one day that I want to be just like Jesus.  I said to Him, "I want to be one one of those people that You talk about in the Bible.  I know that by my own will I've done things in the past that I willed to do."  I didn't check with God ... I just went ahead and did them.

He said that there are times when people will listen to Him and they'll respond back, "Well, I'll do that, but I gotta do this other thing first."  Then He asked me, "Who's first place in this comment?  What God wants ... or what you want to do?"  If/When I want to do something, it's because He wants me to do it, not because I want to do it.

We lose sight of this very, very important fact: we are not our own. When we become born-again Christians, the person that we were died.  The Apostle Paul, in Galatians 2:20, said that we are crucified with Christ, yet we live ... but not us, it's Christ that lives in us.

This is the key.  We are still alive, but we are not alive because of who we are.  We're alive because of Who He is in us.  Not only that, when this happens, God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and God the Holy Spirit come and dwell within ... all three of Them living in us.

Now do we always walk perfectly in the flesh?  Absolutely not!  Do we walk perfectly in the spirit?  Absolutely YES
