1 John 1:9 ... If (when) we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  This Scripture tells us that those who confess their sins, Jesus is faithful and just to forgive us of those sins.  He's not concerned about it.   Religion plays on your sin nature.   The sin is still there, but it has lost its power in us.  BUT ... and this is very important...we HAVE TO ASK FOR FORGIVENESS.   If we DO NOT ASK, we WON'T HAVE IT.   The Word says in JAMES 4:2b that you do not have because you do not ask.   So if (when) you ask Him for forgiveness, you are forgiven.   One more thing...God is not the One Who brings it back and reminds us of it....the devil does that.  He comes and reminds us of all the mistakes we've made.
