Mark 1:9 NLT ... One day Jesus came from Nazareth to Galilee, and John baptized Him in the Jordan River.

We have to be born again and then we are baptized in water.  The Bible says that we need to do this after we've accepted Jesus as our personal Savior.  Baptism is an outward sign to the world that we are a new person.  This is what Jesus did.

Mark 1:10 NLT ... As Jesus came up out of the water, He saw the Heavens splitting apart, and the Holy Spirit descending on Him like a dove.  And a voice from Heaven said, "You are My dearly loved Son and You bring Me great joy."  The King James Version says: "... in Whom I am well pleased."

Jesus not only represented the born-again experience that we go through, but He also represented the infilling of the Holy Spirit.  God the Father said, "This is My Son in Whom I am well-pleased", and the Holy Spirit then filled Him up ... just like He does us.

Jesus didn't do any "mighty works" until after this had happened.  He grew up as a youngster just like any other human boy would do, probably doing the same things.
