Being a Christian isn't just a matter of getting eternal life. A Christian isn't simply a person who's forgiven and going to Heaven. A Christian, in terms of his or her identity, is a saint, a spiritually-born child of God, a divine masterpiece, a child of Light (the Glory), a citizen of Heaven. Being born again transformed you into someone who didn't exist before.
The point isn't what you receive as a Christian, but who you are ... what you've become. It isn't what you do as a Christian that determines who you are ... it's who you are that determines what you do.
From the Amplified Bible:
2 Corinthians 5:17 ...If any person is in Christ, he is a new creature altogether. The old previous moral and spiritual condition has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!
Ephesians 2:10 ... We are God's own handiwork, His workmanship, recreated in Christ Jesus ... born anew ... that we may do those good works which God predestined ... planned beforehand ... for us, taking paths that He prepared ahead of time that we should walk in them ... living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live.
1 Peter 2:9 ... You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, God's own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous Light (His Glory).
1 John 3:1,2 ... See what an incredible quality of Love the Father has given, shown, bestowed on us, that we should be permitted to be named, called, and counted the children of God! And we are! The reason that the world does not know, recognize, acknowledge us is that it does not know, recognize, acknowledge Him. Beloved, we are even here and now God's children; it is not yet disclosed, made clear, whar we shall be hereafter, but we know that when He comes and is manifested, we shall, as God's children, resemble and be like Him, for we shall see Him just as He really is.
