1 John 2:15,16... Love not the world or the things in the world.  If any one loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.   For all that is in the world.... the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life....  is not of the Father, but it is of the world. 

This is pretty clear.... we are supposed to be walking in these things and encouraging one another in them.

Romans 8:2.... The Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 

The law of sin and death NO LONGER has authority to force me to do anything contrary to what God is wanting me to do.  We have the legal right in the spirit realm to say, "NO!" where before that time we didn't have that right.
