My wife, Mary, and I became very interested in the subject of "words", especially after reading what the Scriptures say about our words.  We started studying about the words we speak ... from the Bible itself ... and then by reading what others have found out and say about it.

We saw that we have to make God's Word a part of our everyday vocabulary.  This is difficult to do because people want to talk about how they feel, things that other people have done to them or said about them ... or they want to pass on a juicy bit of gossip, especially if it's about a person they don't like.

We have to change the words coming forth from our mouths to what God's Word says ... about us, about others.  It will take time to develop this ... it won't happen overnight.

Proverbs 18:20,21 says: What you say affects how you live.  You will be rewarded by how you speak.  What you say can mean life or death.  Those who love to talk will be rewarded for what they say ... [either good or bad].

Proverbs 21:23 ... A person who is careful about what he says keeps himself out of trouble.

And Proverbs 13:3 tells us that "whoever is careful about what he says protects his life.
