Philippians 3:12 , the Apostle Paul says that the Lord Jesus has laid hold of him and made him His own and.   he's referencing it to the soulish realm where we live.

Our spirit man is not our problem ... our soul man is.  Some of this is referring to our flesh,but most of it refers to our soul man: our mind, our will, and our emotions. 

The mind is where our decisions are made which our will has to carry out.  It's also where we need the spiritual knowledge and the wisdom that goes with it to convert our soulish realm to be in line with our spirit man. 

Philippians 3:13,14 says, "I do not consider that I have captured it and made it my own yet, but one thing I do ... it is my one aspiration: forgetting what lies behind and straining to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the supreme and heavenly prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward."
